Dubai is set to host a young designer's fashion show as part of the 2nd
Berlin-Dubai festival.

The Dubai-Berlin Fashion Fusion will showcase the work of eight young
designers from the German capital and the Emirate. Their work is heavily
influenced by their respective cities and is part of an exchange project
organised by the Goethe-Institut German Language Centre Dubai.

The Emirate is establishing itself as a centre of culture in the region
and this latest project highlights its status as a luxury holiday destination.

Dubai holidays include sleek hotels, great weather and now
high-end fashion that brings together the work of designer's from two
unique cities.

Friederike Moeschel is the director of the Goethe-Institut German
Language Centre Dubai. He said: "Fashion is used as a medium to discuss
iconic values in societies as well as lifestyles."

Mr Moeschel indicated that the traditional Arabian garment, the Abaya,
is to be a focal point. He said the garment has been revised in
different styles ranging from rocker, 1920s to ethno.

The show is to take place at the new contemporary art house in Dubai,
the Pavilion Downtown on January 23 at 8pm.
