Dubai now shares with London the distinction of being one of the two most popular retail city in the world.
According to a study conducted by CB Richard Ellis, the city hosts 56% of all international retail brands surveyed and 1.2 million square metres of all the retail space that has come on to the market since 2006.
Shopping malls have always been hugely popular among international tourists heading off to the Middle East seeking extended Dubai holidays. The city has thus earned the distinction of being the shopping capital of the Middle East.
Major global retailers like Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, and also high-end fashion brands Prada and Gucci, have all established their operations in Dubai.
Shopping events like Dubai Summer Surprises and Dubai Shopping Festival are also hugely popular among tourists coming to the emirate to spend on their tailor made holidays.
