Travellers planning a USA holiday in the coming weeks can expect to encounter a New York Giants frenzy after the team defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl last weekend.
New York stores are reporting that fans of the American football team have been scooping up T-shirts and other Super Bowl merchandise.
At Times Square store Modell's, shopper Stu Miller from New Jersey bought at least three T-shirts and said he was thinking about adding a Giants blanket to his collection. He did not reveal how much he was spending, joking: "My wife is liable to kill me."
Luxury holiday makers might wish to avoid the Big Apple on Tuesday when the Giants craze is likely to reach its high point, with a parade held along New York's Broadway to celebrate the Super Bowl win.
Modell's manager Jamal Miller said he expects a blue foam hand to be the best seller ahead of the parade. It features four extended fingers and costs $9.99. A shirt which includes instructions for Victor Cruz's salsa dance is also available at the shop.
