Sri Lanka
Following torrential rains, several areas of the country have experienced mudslides and flooding. The main region affected is the East and North East coasts and these are areas which in the main Kuoni do not feature.
Kuoni’s local agents have confirmed that the weather has improved over the last few days. The road access to Trincomalee (north-east) is open but there has been an increase in pot holes from the torrential rain and this means that transfers may take longer than normal.
As long as the weather does not deteriorate again Kuoni will be operating as normal to this area and the rest of Sri Lanka and will be contacting any customers due to travel imminently to advise them of the transfer situation. All drivers and guides have been briefed to take additional care at this time.
Australia
The Brisbane River has caused significant flooding in the central business district and suburban areas. Roads in the surrounding area and the main routes to the Gold and Sunshine Coast have been impacted.
Kuoni Operations department have contacted customers currently in Brisbane to offer assistance as necessary. Customers due to travel imminently to Brisbane, Gold or Sunshine Coast are being contacted on a rolling basis to assist with re-routing their holiday.
Brazil
Torrential rains in the Southeast of Brazil have caused widespread flooding and landslides. Flooding has mainly impacted Sao Paulo state while there have been landslides in Rio de Janeiro state although we understand these have been outside of the city.
Kuoni’s ground agents have advised that this is not having any major impact on any of their customers who are currently in Brazil or those due to travel imminently.
South Africa
There have been reports of localised but severe flooding in parts of South Africa with the Eastern Cape, North West, Gauteng and Vaal river areas being particularly adversely affected.
No Kuoni clients are affected by this current problem.
In all cases, Kuoni are liaising with their local agents and closely monitoring the situation. Should the situation escalate and start to impact on customers, Kuoni’s Operations department will contact customers due to travel and also ensure that customers in resort are looked after and their itinerary amended as necessary.
