Hurricane Tomas

(update: 2 November 2011)

Hurricane Tomas, although currently downgraded to a tropical storm, is predicted to change track and head toward Jamaica, Haiti and Eastern Cuba with a possibility of making landfall at the weekend as a category 1/2 hurricane.  We will be monitoring this closely and are in contact with our agents in Jamaica and Cuba.

St Lucia
Due to the damage to roads and bridges on the island, it is currently not possible to transfer anyone to/from the airport.

The majority of hotels have sustained minimal damage and are able to continue to service guests. However we understand that the bridges also contained water pipes and therefore there is a possibility in the coming days the water supply to some properties may be compromised.

The Tourist Board, FCO and airlines are looking at various options to bring everyone out of the island as soon as possible.

Guests in resort:
Kuoni customers in resort are safe and well and are being cared for by our Kuoni reps.  We are liaising with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic to try to ensure everyone returns as quickly as possible once it is safe to do so.  Several options are being considered but no definite decisions have been made.  Although the airport in the north of the island is open, only small aircraft are able to land here.

Guests due to travel:
Kuoni are giving a full refund to those customers who were due to travel from when hurricane Tomas hit, up to today where we were unable to rebook alternative holidays.  We will be contacting anyone due to travel up to Friday 5th Nov to assist in rebooking an alternative holiday. This will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Barbados
The hotels have sustained minimal damage resulting in some power issues and closure of golf courses, swimming pools etc but they are still operating as normal.  All flights are operating and we will be checking with the hotels if their facilities are back to normal over the next few days.

The Kuoni Operations team are continuously monitoring the situation closely and will contact any customers whose holidays have been affected to assist with rebooking.

For customers due to travel to St.Lucia within the next 48 hours who would like further information, please call Kuoni Operations on 01306 742544 in order that we may assist.
