The Egyptian Tourist Office have confirmed that the two American tourists involved in this incident have been freed unharmed.
Earlier today, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) updated their advice with regard to an incident involving two foreign tourists (believed to be Americans) who were kidnapped along with their tour guide while travelling near St Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai. Three other tourists travelling with them were left behind.
It is not clear at this stage who is responsible. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the kidnappers were demanding the release of two men arrested following a robbery in Old Sharm.
