The earthquake hit Christchurch at 12:51 (NZ time) on 22 February 2011.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated their advice and is no longer advising against all but essential travel to Christchurch.

The airport is operating as normal and there are no problems with access around the city, though there are still restrictions within the city.
Kuoni Policy:
Anyone due to stay in central Christchurch up to 30th April 2011 will need to amend their stay to a location on the outskirts of the city or the surrounding area. We will be contacting any clients who have yet to depart the UK to assist them with this change. Anyone who has already left the UK will either be contacted by Kuoni or the operator of their tour.
There will be no amendment charges but if the costs increase for the new itinerary these will be passed on to clients.
