Italy
Couples must provide originals of their long birth certificates and obtain an original ‘no impediment certificate’ issued by their local Registry Office. Photocopies of your current passport, photocopies of passports for two witnesses and details of their marital status, occupation and place of residence are also required. If either party has been previously married you will also need your original marriage certificate from your previous marriage and your original decree absolute and previous spouses death certificate. In Italy, there is a ten month waiting period before a divorcee or widow may marry. The original ‘no impediment certificate’ must be issued within three months of the intended date of marriage. It can take up to 21 days to be issued and costs £30 per person (approx). The wedding certificate issued will be multilingual.
Canada
You will need to complete a Banff Licence and Registration form for both civil partnerships and weddings and return to Kuoni with your completed weddings form. Minimum age 21. Also travel with your birth certificate, passport, decree absolute, death certificate, adoption and deedpoll if applicable.
USA
Minimum age 18. One working day required in resort before the wedding can take place, excluding Hawaii, two days minimum stay required. New York 5 nights; Las Vegas, San Francisco, Hawaii 3 nights; Florida 7 nights. Couples are required to travel with their passports, decree absolute, death certificate, adoption certificate and deedpoll notice if applicable. Birth certificates are required for Florida, Hawaii and New York.
Dominican Republic
Wedding documents need to be legalised by the Dominican Consulate before arriving into the Dominican Republic. The documents should be legalised no longer than 30 days prior to the wedding date. The judge will duly register your wedding certificate at the Central Civil Board and legalise it with the Foreign Affairs Department in the Dominican Republic. Your certificate will be sent 6-8 weeks later. The wedding is conducted in Spanish, translation can be arranged on request at no additional charge. The bride must be divorced for at least 10 months before re-marrying.
Mauritius
Kuoni will supply you with an ‘Intent to Marry’ form which you will need to complete and return with your other wedding forms and copies of all your documents including any previous marriages. If the Bride to be has been divorced for less than ten months at the time of the wedding then she will have to have a pregnancy test in resort costing approximately £35. The wedding will be conducted using the Brides maiden name.
Zanzibar
In the unlikely event the Regional Commissioner is unable to come to the hotel to perform the ceremony, wedding couples will go to Stone Town and be married in the Regional Commissioners Office. After which the couple will return to the hotel and enjoy a symbolic ceremony on the beach. The Regional Commissioner will reconfirm your wedding date, if there is any change to your wedding date we will of course advise you. Two passport size photos of the bride and groom are required by Kuoni.
Cuba
All documents need to be officially translated intro Spanish and legalised by the Cuban Consulate in London.
Thailand
Kuoni will provide the wedding couple with an ‘Affirmation to Marry’ form that needs to be completed and returned. Wedding Registrations in Bangkok are not conducted during the Songkran Festival (usually mid April), over Christmas and New Year and public holidays as both the British Embassy & Registrars Offices will be closed. Couples will receive their wedding certificate approximately four to six months after the wedding. The certificate is sent from the British Embassy in Bangkok to the Registrars Office in the UK who will contact you once they have received this.
Bali
Both parties must belong to one of the following religions: Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist and ideally must be of the same religion. If however one of you is Protestant and one Catholic then you will need to sign an affidavit in resort that your ceremony will be conducted by a Protestant Minister. Additional information may be required for some religions. To marry in Bali the wedding couple must visit the British Consulate in Denpasar (only available to British passport holders). Couples will require full length birth certificates. Couples are now required to obtainan original ‘certificate of no impediment’ issued by their local Registry Office. In Bali this certificate will be endorsed by the British Embassy which will be paid in local currency approximately £45. An affidavit will be completed in resort at a cost of £120 per person.
Australia
You will need to complete a ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ supplied by Kuoni. This needs to be completed by both of you and then signed and stamped by an Australian Official from the Australian Embassy in London or a Notary Public (not a solicitor). Kuoni will send this to Australia for you. It must be with the Celebrant one month and one day before your wedding.
Fiji
For weddings in Fiji the Bride and Groom will need to apply for a licence in Nadi before transferring to your island. For couples staying on Tokoriki and Likuliku Lagoon Resort you will need to apply for your licence before arriving at a cost of FS$40.
Antigua
Bride and Groom must obtain an affidavit in Antigua at a cost of approximately US$50 to confirm their single status. Please note that any previous Decree Absolutes are non returnable when marrying in a Sandals Resort.
Sandals properties
Failure to provide the correct documentation 12 weeks before travel will result in a charge of $150 being imposed by Sandals for documentation administration. This must be paid before departure. If these documents are not received before departure, Sandals reserves the right to cancel the wedding. Residency requirements are to do with the country they get married in, NOT the resort. Couples need to stay a minimum of 7 nights in hotel and can marry after 3 working days.
UK passport holder S/UK citizens
If you are not from the UK or do not hold a British passport, we must stress that you must contact your consulate directly - you must ensure that you are eligible to marry in that country and verify that you do not require any further documents such as an apostille issued by the country you are marrying in.
