MEAL PLAN Prices include buffet breakfast on every day except Day 3 and dinner is included on Days 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9.

ACCOMMODATION Is in central three and four star hotels, but in remote areas such as National Parks or small towns this standard may not exist and accommodation maybe more simple and rustic. Hotels will be confirmed with final itineraries.

DAY 1 Door to door transfer from your home to Heathrow airport. Fly British Airways from Heathrow to New York. On arrival a transfer is included to your centrally positioned Manhattan hotel, which will be your base for the next two nights. The following day meet your fellow travellers for a welcome breakfast at a traditional New York diner and then enjoy a fascinating tour of the 'Big Apple'. Sights you will see include Times Square, the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and also Central Park. Also take time to visit the quirky and interesting neighbourhoods such as Little Italy and Chinatown.

DAY 3 This morning travel south to Philadelphia where a tour is included to witness such sights as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Continue your journey to the Amish Country of Lancaster. Begin the following day with a visit to Wheatland, the palatial home of James Buchanan and enjoy a glimpse into the life of the 15th US President. Later visit Kitchen Kettle Complex where small batches of jams, jellies and relishes are handcrafted daily. A local guide will then take you on a tour of the Amish farmlands where you will learn about the fascinating history and traditions of the Amish people. Tonight enjoy one of the tour highlights as you enjoy dinner in the home of an Amish family.

DAY 5 Journey to Gettysburg, site of the Union Victory that marked the turning point in the Civil War. A guided tour of the site illustrates those three historic days in 1863 and the decisive battle that changed the course of American history for ever. Travel to Shenandoah National Park via the famous Skyline Drive, along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains where you will overnight.

DAY 6 A visit to Monticello is included today, the beautiful home of Thomas Jefferson who was the author of the Declaration of Independence. Carry on your tour to Colonial Williamsburg, one of the largest and best living history museums in the world and enjoy some sumptuous colonial cuisine at one of the city’s most famous taverns. The following day is spent exploring Colonial Williamsburg. Begin the day by watching the movie ‘Story of a Patriot’ which introduces you to Colonial Williamsburg. Also tour the fabulous Governor’s Palace and Gardens and the 88 historic buildings where guides in period costume explain the Colonists way of life.

DAY 8 This morning visit the beloved home of the first President of the United States, General George Washington, where you will have time to explore his estate, Mount Vernon, and the beautiful plantation grounds that he adored. Continue to the nation’s capital Washington D.C. On arrival a trip to the Smithsonian Institution is included where you can see the fabled Hope Diamond, the Apollo Rocket and also the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. Your final full day in Washington will be spent visiting Arlington National Cemetery and also the White House Visitor’s Centre. The day concludes with a drive along Embassy Row and stops at the moving World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Memorial.

DAY 10 Enjoy the morning sightseeing before taking your transfer to Washington Dulles airport in time for your British Airways overnight flight to Heathrow arriving the next day. Upon arrival, take your included door to door transfer back to your home.
