There's more to the Yucatan than white-sand beaches and the warm waters of the Caribbean coast. Our Treasures of the Yucatan tour offers you the opportunity to combine the famous Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Uxmal with some of the region's hidden treasures.

•   Meals are not included on the extensions

•   All of our chosen hotels and lodges are of at least a three star standard
•   Upgraded accommodation option from £65 per person: Lodge at Chichen Itza, Presidente Intercontinental Villa Mercedes (Superior room) in Mérida and The Lodge at Uxmal, all of which are of at least four star standard

GRATUITIES
•   Tips are included for housekeeping staff, waiters (where meals are included) and bellboys
•   Expect to tip your tour guide about $10 per day and driver about $5 per day
•   Tips are generally 10-15% in bars and restaurants

DAY 1 - LONDON TO PLAYA DEL CARMEN
Fly with British Airways from Gatwick to Cancun. Transfer to the Holiday Inn Express in Playacar for one night (approx. 40 miles).

DAY 2 - PLAYA DEL CARMEN TO CHICHEN ITZA
Visit the spectacular clifftop ruins of Tulum (approx. 40 miles). Continue to Sian Kaan - a World Heritage Site - and enjoy a boat ride, explore Mayan ruins and snorkel in the clear waters. Continue to Chichen Itza (approx. 125 miles) for two nights at Mayaland Hotel & Bungalows.

The next day, depart to Rio Largatos (approx. 78 miles) on the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, which has a unique eco-system with pink flamingos and alligators. Return to the hotel (approx. 78 miles) for time at leisure. Optional evening light and sound show within the ruins.

DAY 4 - CHICHEN ITZA TO UXMAL
Tour the World Heritage listed site of Chichen Itza, remarkable ruins included in the New Seven Wonders of the World. Attractions include the Ball Game Court, Temple of Jaguars, Pyramid of Kukulcán, Sacred Cenote and Mayan Observatory.

Journey to Uxmal (approx. 90 miles) via the pretty colonial town of Izamal, and spend two nights at the Hacienda Uxmal. The next day take an archaeological tour of Uxmal including the Magician's Pyramid, Nun's Quadrangle and Great Pyramid. Evening light and sound show.

DAY 6 - UXMAL TO MERIDA
Continue to the colonial city of Merida (approx. 50 miles) for a city tour. Lunch is served at a traditional Mexican restaurant as mariachi players serenade. Overnight at the Presidente Intercontinental Villa Mercedes in a Standard room.

DAY 7 - MERIDA TO LONDON
Return to Playacar (approx. 200 miles) for a final night at the Holiday Inn Express before your return flight with British Airways to Gatwick.

DAY 1 - LONDON TO MEXICO CITY
Fly British Airways to Mexico City for two nights at Fiesta Americana Reforma.
DAY 3 - MEXICO CITY TO CANCUN
Fly Mexicana to Cancun and join the main tour from Day 1.

MAYAN RIVIERA
Unwind on stunning white-sand beaches after the tour.
DAY 7 - PLAYA DEL CARMEN TO MAYAN RIVIERA
Continue to Occidental Grand Flamenco for five nights in a Deluxe room, or choose your favourite hotel.
DAY 12 - MAYAN RIVIERA TO LONDON
Transfer to Cancun airport for your British Airways flight to Gatwick, arriving the following day.

TIKAL, GUATEMALA
The spectacular Mayan ruins of Tikal remain surrounded by dense jungle.
DAY 7 - PLAYA DEL CARMAN TO FLORES
Fly to Flores for three nights at the Camino Real hotel and a tour of the ruins.
DAY 9 - FLORES TO LONDON
Fly to Cancun for a night at Live Aqua Cancun before your return flight with British Airways to Gatwick.

UNDISCOVERED CAMPECHE
Explore the colonial town of Campeche and ancient ruins of Calakmul, escorted by a local guide.
DAY 7 - PLAYA DEL CARMAN TO CAMPECHE
Visit Campeche via Becal (approx 188 miles). City tour and night at Hacienda Puerta Campeche.
DAY 8 - CAMPECHE TO CALAKMUL
To Calakmul (approx. 220 miles) for two nights at the Chicanna Ecovillage and archaeological site.
DAY 10 - CALAKMUL TO LONDON
Drive via Bacalar to Playacar (approx. 340 miles) for a night at the Holiday Inn Express before your British Airways flight to Gatwick.
