•   On the remote Osa Peninsula on the Pacific coast, Corcovado National Parks protects coastal rainforest and wildlife.
•   Tortuguero is a beautiful village in northeast Costa Rica. The neighbouring national park hosts a diverse array of wildlife including toucans, monkeys, crocodiles and colourful frogs.

Costa Rica - The Essentials
•   Don’t brag, publicly express anger or be impatient.
•   It’s considered rude to put your feet on furniture, fidget with your hands and feet or make a fist with your thumb sticking out.

Random Fact
Costa Rica is aiming to become the world’s first carbon neutral country after signing up to the Climate Neutral Network back in February 2008. The island, which already generates most of its energy through renewable sources, hopes to achieve the status by 2021. Off-setting measures used so far include reforestation.
