The 'Canadian'

An epic rail journey to remember, The ‘Canadian’ is a stress free and jaw-dropping journey that connects the east and west coast of Canada. With a choice of onboard accommodation including exclusive carriages and sumptuous cuisine, just sit back and relax and watch the mesmerising scenery pass you by.

MEAL PLAN → Prices include breakfast, lunch and dinner depending on journey.

ACCOMMODATION → Is in a choice of Lower or Upper berth or cabin accommodation. All trains are non smoking.
GRATUITIES → Tipping is common practice in Canada. We recommend between 10-15% for waiting staff and barmen and smaller amounts for doormen and porters.
TRAVEL TIPS → Pack a small overnight bag for your journey as your main luggage will be stored in a separate luggage carriage and will not be accessible during the journey.

By daylight all passengers enjoy a reserved seating area which can be made into a selection of sleeping berths or cabins by night. A shower room and toilet facilities are located in each carriage. The following choice of berth or cabin accommodation is offered. Upper and Lower Berths include deep cushioned seats by day, and at night convert to upper and lower beds with a privacy curtain. A double set of face to face seats with an optional table is provided during the day. Toilet facilities are shared. Two people travelling together will be allocated an upper and lower berth. Cabins accommodating 2 people, including comfortable arm chairs in the daytime which convert into upper and lower beds at night with private toilet facilities. Cabins can accommodate 1 adult in a single bed at night but can accommodate 2 adults sitting during the day. Two people travelling together in a single cabin are usually located adjacent to each other.

Step on board The ‘Canadian’, VIA Rail’s flagship train which travels through the Northern Ontario lakelands, the wide open prairies and the majestic Canadian Rockies. Operating three times a week, year round, the five day rail journey from Toronto to Vancouver also calls at Winnipeg, Edmonton and Jasper along the way. Offering a choice of excellent on board accommodation, fine dining and amazing views, this is surely one of the most memorable train journeys that you will ever experience.

Arrive Winnipeg Thursdays 8.00 am
Arrive Edmonton Fridays 6.37am
Arrive Jasper Fridays 1pm
Arrive Vancouver Saturdays 9.42am

Prices are based on Touring Class service on board The ‘Canadian’. Touring Class service includes use of the Touring Class lounge in Toronto with complimentary soft drinks and newspapers, priority baggage handling and seating (available in Toronto, Jasper and Vancouver only), exclusive use of the elegant and tranquil Park Car (located at the rear of the train) and Skyline entertainment car, ‘Welcome Aboard’ reception with free wine and hot appetisers (only available in Toronto, Jasper and Vancouver), all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) depending on journey (choice of three seatings for dinner), and one hour pre-boarding privileges in Toronto and Vancouver.
