The vibrant and chic city of Lugano is known as the ‘Rio de Janeiro of Europe’ due to is spectacular location set between the two conical peaks of San Salvatore and Monte Bré. Gaze over the glistening lake, board one of the graceful lake steamers and cruise along the lake to picturesque fishing villages or wander through the traffic-free Old Quarter and visit charming boutiques and a wealth shops.
Lugano whole-heartedly embraces the Mediterranean cafe culture and there are a number of venues that make an ideal spot for soaking up the sun and watching the world go by. A whole host of activities can be enjoyed ranging from the thrill of waterfall rappelling and waterskiing to simply lazing on the beach or trying your luck at one of the glitzy casinos that add a sprinkling of glamour to the city.


•   Visit the Municipio - a town hall which dates back to 1844 to see an impressive collections of sculptures, frescoes and paintings.
•   The Belvedere Garden which stretches along the lakeside promenade is a tranquil sanctuary lined with shady green and dotted with colourful flowerbeds and Ticinese  sculptures.
•   Ride the classic cable car that glides from Cassarate to the small pretty mountain village of Bré from which you can drink in spectacular panoramic view of Lugano.
•   Lugano is famous for its legendary annual jazz festival which takes place in the summer and plays free open-air concerts.
