DAY 1 - LONDON TO LECCEFly British Airways from Gatwick to Bari. Collect your Avis car and drive to the famous town of Lecce for a three night stay at the contemporary Risorgimento Resort. Wander around the streets and squares including the beautiful Piazza del Duomo where the 12th century cathedral sits and enjoy the best Puglian cuisine at the city's best restaurants.
DAY 4 - LECCE TO FASANO Drive north along the east coast to the town of Fasano a base to explore the Adriatic coastal villages, towns and unspoilt coastline. Stay three nights at Borgo Egnazia. Visit the nearby safari park Selva di Fasano or the hamlet Montalbano with its prehistoric dolmen, or megalith, one of many that can be found in the region.
DAY 7 - FASANO TO MATERACross the border into the region of Bailicata an onwards to the town of Matera. Spend three nights at the Palazzo Gattini and marvel at the ancient and spectacular architecture. The caves of Matera are a sight to behold and have been inhabited for centuries.
DAY 10 - MATERA TO SALENTO Return south to the countryside surrounding Lecce for a three night stay at the resorted Salento farmhouses of Tenuta Monacelli and Masseria Giampaolo. Discover the untouched beaches and dramatic features such as the rocky cliffs, arches and caves of Torre Sant Andrea (St Andrew's Tower).
DAY 13 - SALENTO TO LONDONReturn to Bari airport, fly British Airways to Gatwick.
