DAY 1 - LONDON TO ALBEROBELLOFly British Airways from Gatwick to Bari. Collect your Avis car and drive to the famous town of Alberobello to stay three nights at the Grand Hotel Olimpo. Its central location is ideal for exploring the unique town on foot. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Alberobello is home to over 1,000 whitewashed trulli, fascinating little circular buildings with conical shaped roofs.
DAY 4 - ALBEROBELLO TO OSTUNIHead to the charming hilltop town of Ostuni to stay three nights at the Ostuni Palace hotel which is located in the historic centre of the ‘La Citta Bianca', the white city due to its abundance of beautiful white buildings. The historic centre in particular the Terra quarter boasts buildings of great architectural importance including the Church of St Maria Maddalena, Palazzo Ducale and the Guglia di St Oronzo.
DAY 7 - OSTUNI TO LECCEDrive to Lecce for a three night stay at the Risorgimento Resort. Lecce, also known as the ‘Florence of the South’ displays enchanting baroque architecture and fascinating Roman remains. Stroll through the majestic squares and quaint cobbled lanes dotted with artisan shops, lively cafés and restaurants.
DAY 10 - LECCE TO MATERA Journey north to Matera, one of the most amazing towns in Italy located in the neighbouring region of Basilicata, to spend three nights at the Hotel in Pietra. The ancient city of Matera is famous for its eerie rock-hewn 8th Century ‘sassi’, cave-like dwellings carved into the rock face, which were once used by monks and farmers as a place of refuge.
DAY 13 - MATERA TO LONDONReturn to Bari airport, fly British Airways to Gatwick.
