Discover stunning scenery and inspiring people on a journey through the red heart of Australia. Relax around the campfire, sleep on traditional swags, and trek through gorges, valleys and a conservation park. Enjoy an awe-inspiring experience around the base of the iconic Uluru and explore the art and artefacts at six of Australia’s oldest Aboriginal communities.
MEAL PLAN → Prices include 4 breakfasts (Days 2-5), 4 lunches (Days 2-5), 4 dinners (Days 1-4).
ACCOMMODATION → You will be camping so please come prepared; bring a water bottle and good walking shoes/boots. You will be asked to help with meal preparation and loading and unloading the vehicles.
TOUR INCLUDES → Camping equipment, swags, laundered bed sheets and pillows are included. Tents are available on requet. Sleeping bags are extra cost. Reference books and supplies of drinking water (must have your own bottle) are also included. Bush showers and toilets available at most of our private bush camps.
TRANSPORT → Airconditioned 4x4 vehicles.
TRAVEL TIPS → Don’t forget a flashlight, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a fly head net (summer), any required medication, water bottle, walking shoes/boots, warm clothing (winter), sleeping bag, toiletries, swim wear and towel.

DAY 1 → After an early morning departure from Alice Springs, travel via the West MacDonnell Ranges to the historical Glen Helen Resort where you will have some time to enjoy a coffee, a walk to the Glen Helen Gorge or an optional helicopter ride. Follow some raw Outback tracks through beautiful rugged scenery to Haasts Bluff and Papunya, two aboriginal communities who create some stunning art. Papunya is also known as the home of the popular Aboriginal band, The Walpiri Band. You will spend the night under the stars at a remote campsite.
DAY 2 → Another early start and hearty breakfast, followed by a trip to the Areyonga community who are located within the Krichauff and Razorback Ranges surrounded by spectacular scenery. After lunch visit one of the oldest Luthern based aboriginal communities in Australia, Hermannsburg. In the late afternoon make your way to the Owen Springs Conservation Park to camp for the night.
DAY 3 → Today journey through the beautiful Owen Springs to the Hugh River in the Lawrence Gorge, almost following in the footsteps of the explorer, John McDouall Stuart. At mid morning arrive at the Titjikala community and enjoy a break for lunch. Afterwards, travel on to the Oak Valley Aboriginal community and be welcomed by Robert, Mary and Craig Le Rosignol who own the property. Here you can see an olive plantation, Aboriginal rock carvings and paintings and see demonstrations in throwing boomerang and spear. There is also a gallery of art and artefacts to view before making your way to the campsite at Oak Valley.
DAY 4 → Leaving Oak Valley, follow the famous Hugh River Stock Route, which runs adjacent to the famous Ghan Railway to Erldunda and Mount Ebeneezer, the art centre of the Imanpa community. Join the Lassetter Highway to the Curtain SpringS Cattle Station and on to the simply breathtaking Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park with a stop off at its Cultural Centre before a barbecue lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a privileged visit to the Moruku Art Warehouse to see some of the Anangu Art.
DAY 5 → Before sunrise enjoy a two and a half hour awe-inspiring base walk around Uluru. Hear all about the Alcheringa (Dreamtime) and Tjukurpa (Laws and Creation), on this truly moving journey before returning to a hearty breakfast. For guests finishing in Uluru, transfer to the airport or your chosen accommodation while guests returning to Alice Springs enjoy the journey arriving late afternoon.
