Mercure Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island

The truly unique Fraser Island offers a rare ecotourism experience with rainforests, sand dunes, freshwater lakes, birds and wildlife plus the modern facilities of Kingfisher Bay Resort.

Accommodation

152 rooms overlooking lakes and bushland, each with air-conditioning, bath, television, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities and private timber decks.
Resort rooms as above.
Spa rooms feature a spa bath.
Two bedroom villas are more spacious and feature a kitchenette.
Two bedroom spa villas also boast a private deck with spa bath.

Restaurants

Maheno- Australian native cuisine - buffet dinners. Sand Bar- Seabelle- A la carte - introduces flavours of the Australian bush.

With rainforests, freshwater lakes, sand dunes, beaches, an abundance of wildlife and birds, exploring is top of the agenda with 4WD tours, walking trails, stargazing and bush tucker talks being a few of the things to do on Fraser Island. Kingfisher Bay Resort facilities include four restaurants, three bars, four swimming pools and a Natural Therapy retreat. There is also a Junior Eco ranger club for children aged 5-14 years.

Location

The resort lies on World Heritage-listed Fraser Island, at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef and approx. 160 miles north of Brisbane. Transfers are by ferry from Hervey Bay plus there are direct flights available from Brisbane or Sydney.

Aborigine art is available in all major cities at every conceivable price. Shops selling duty-free goods are available so it’s worth looking at radios, photographic and electrical equipment, as well as clothes and perfumes. Your passport and ongoing ticket will prove that you’re eligible for duty-free although not always asked for. Souvenirs include the cuddly koala, boomerangs and the Australian wide brimmed hat.
