Treasures of Thailand is a comprehensive guided tour through the northern region of Thailand - taking you on a journey of temples, hill tribes and night markets. Just a few of the highlights include an elephant ride, a long tail boat trip down the Mae Khong River and a traditional Khantoke dinner.

Treasures of Thailand tour is accompanied throughout by a local English speaking guide.

MEAL PLAN
Breakfast on Days 3-9, lunch on Days 2-8 and dinner on Day 3.
No meals in Bangkok, however additional meal supplements available on request.

ACCOMMODATION
Three and four star accommodation is used throughout.
On occasion it may be necessary to use alternative accommodation due to local availability, weather and road conditions.

GROUP SIZE

DAY 1 - LONDON TO BANGKOK
Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to the Majestic Bangkok for a two night stay and a chance to explore this cultural and vibrant city.


DAY 3 - BANGKOK TO CHIANG MAI

This morning, fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and after arriving, drive to Doi Suthep to visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, the most sacred temple in Northern Thailand. Stay the next two nights in a Superior room at The Empress Hotel.


DAY 4 - CHIANG MAI
Visit the Mae Sa Elephant Camp and enjoy an elephant ride plus visits to an orchid nursery and butterfly farm. After lunch visit Sankampaeng, Bo Sarng and the Celadon kilns to see exquisite local crafts, and tonight, enjoy a traditional Khantoke dinner.

DAY 5 - CHIANG MAI TO MAE HONG SON
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Mae Hong Son with Nok Air. On arrival take a boat trip along the Pai River to visit the Padong long-necked hill tribe, famous for their tradition of beautifying women by adding brass rings to their necks. Tonight, you will stay in a Deluxe room at The Imperial Tara Mae Hong Son Hotel.

DAY 6 - MAE HONG SON TO PAI
Today visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu temple before travelling to Pai with a visit to Tham Plaa fish cave en route. Visit Kongland's (Pai Canyon) high, eroding cliffs to see the sun set and experience the small Pai Night Market selling handmade items made by local hill tribes. Tonight, stay in a Chalet Mountain view room at Pai Hotspring Spa Resort.

DAY 7 - PAI TO DOI ANGKHANG

Drive to Doi Angkhang with stops en route at Huai Nam Dang National Park and the Chiang Dao Caves. On arrival in Doi Angkhang, visit some local hill tribe villages. Stay in a Superior room at the Angkhang Nature Resort.

DAY 8 - DOI ANGKHANG TO CHIANG RAI
Visit the Royal Agricultural Station Project, sponsored by the King, where local hill tribe people cultivate flora, fruit and herbs as a replacement for the opium poppy they once grew. Move onto Chiang Rai and visit Wat Thaton ahead of a two night stay in a Standard room at Phowadol Resort & Spa.

DAY 9 - CHIANG RAI
After breakfast journey to Mae Sai at the Thai-Burma trading border before proceeding to the Golden Triangle area for a long-tail boat trip down the Mae Khong River to where two rivers form the famous 'triangle' with Laos, Burma and Thailand. Later visit the Opium House.

DAY 10 - CHIANG RAI TO LONDON

Drive from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai ahead of your onward or homeward flight. Alternatively choose from one of our fantastic beach extensions.
