Spend the day exploring Wahiba Sands' undulating red and white dunes in a 4x4. Enjoy a picnic lunch while gazing out over the dunes stretching as far as the eye can see, and capture these towering peaks on your camera. You'll experience exhilarating dune bashing, and might spot nomads roaming through the landscape with their camels. Pay a visit to a Bedouin home before stopping at Wadi Bani Khalid, with its pretty villages, clear, deep water and shady palm trees – perfect for a siesta or swim.

This half day experience begins with a spectacular drive through the Hajar mountains and the oases of Fanjah and Birkat Al Mauz to Nizwa. The impressive 17th century fort stands at the crossroads of many ancient caravan routes. Nizwa Souk is famous for its Bedouin silver jewellery, once part of a bride's dowry. Then it's on to Jabreen castle on a hilltop, where you can't fail to be impressed with the murals in one of Oman's most beautiful forts.

This half-day tour begins with the richly-decorated Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, where you can admire its main chandelier made of pure Swarovski crystal. Visit the Muttrah quarter, stroll along the Corniche and haggle in the busy souk brimming with frankincense, khanjar daggers and beautiful silver handicrafts. Explore the Old Town on foot, with its Portuguese forts and the Sultan's Palace. Finally, learn about Oman's heritage in the Bait Al Zubair Museum.

Stand at the top of Jabal Shams – part of Oman's highest mountain range – and gaze into the rocky terrain known as the 'Grand Canyon'. You'll travel by 4x4 through the Hajar mountain range to the peak, passing shepherds herding their flocks and experiencing the untamed and rugged landscape with tiny, undisturbed settlements. On the way back to Muscat, stop at Birkat al Mauz, a deserted village made of clay.

Cruise along Muscat's spectacular coastline on board a boat. You'll soak up the views over the city as the sun sets in a red and orange glow, and watch the hills fade into shadow and the stars glisten overhead.

Jabal Akhdar – the Green Mountain – is Oman's highest mountain at 2800 metres. You'll travel up the mountainside in a 4x4 and gaze out at the views while enjoying a picnic lunch. Pass the Wadi Bani Khalid, which skirts beautiful villages and terraced farming fields. When you reach the top of the mountain, soak in the breathtaking views. After, there is an optional stop at Jabal Akhdar hotel for drinks before returning to Muscat.

Explore Rustaq and Nakhl on this full day tour. Relax in Rustaq's hot springs, said to have medicinal properties. Visit Al Hazm Fort for a photo stop, capturing its beautiful gates adorned with verses from the Holy Koran and flower etchings. Then it's on to Nakhl, home to the highest fort in Oman, set on a hillside. After admiring this magnificent fort, visit Al Thowara Oasis where you can see the source of natural springs. Enjoy a picnic before heading back to Muscat in the early evening.
