Legal requirements
• Both parties must belong to one of the following religions: Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist - and ideally be of the same religion
• If one of you is Protestant and the other Catholic, you’ll need to sign an affidavit in resort that your ceremony will be conducted by a Protestant Minister
• Additional information may be required for some religions
• To marry in Bali the wedding couple must visit the British Consulate in Denpasar (only available to British passport holders)
• Couples are now required to obtain an original Certificate of no Impediment, issued by their local Registry Office (see
Legal Documents). In Bali this certificate will be endorsed by the British Embassy and costs about £45 to be paid in local currency
• An affidavit will be completed in resort at a cost of £120 per person (see Legal Documents)
Before you travel, Kuoni needs to see copies of the following:
• Full 10 year British passport
• Original birth certificate
• Original decree absolute (if divorced)
• Original death certificates (if widowed)
• Original adoption certificate (if adopted)
• Original deed poll notice (if changed name)
• Certificate of no impediment (see Legal Documents. Takes up to 21 days; to be issued within three months of wedding date)
• Letters of personal details
Other important information
• British passport holders only
• You must spend five days in resort before your wedding
• You must stay at the resort for at least 10 days
• Minimum age 19
• Kuoni must receive your documents eight weeks before you travel
When to travel
Bali’s peak season is June to September, when it’s hot and there’s very little rain. Great savings are available at other times of year, although the weather may be slightly wetter.
