DAY 1 - HEATHROW TO BALI BEACHFly Malaysia Airlines from Heathrow via Kuala Lumpur to Bali, arriving the following day for two nights of relaxation at your chosen beach hotel. Experience Bali’s serene way of life, from tranquil beaches and fantastic hospitality through to a rich and ancient culture. You'll fly with Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong if extending here, with British Airways to Singapore, and onwards with Singapore Airlines if taking the Singapore option.DAY 4 - LOVINAYour experienced guide will collect you this morning to travel from your hotel through spectacular scenery to the vastly colourful Candikuning market where you can try a myriad of exotic fruits including the durian, renowned for its rather distinctive odour. You will visit the expansive and enchanting botanical gardens, home to around 1,500 species of beautiful plants with separate zones dedicated to different varieties, including rose, orchid, cactus and medicinal plants. The tour then takes you to the Ulun Danu Temple on Lake Bratan. One of the most photographed temples on the island, and certainly an iconic image of Bali, it is an exceptional sight that gives the illusion of floating on water. Absorb the natural beauty of this peaceful area before travelling through countryside, terraced rice fields and plantations as well as a visit to the Gitgit waterfall on the way to the northern town of Lovina (approx. 60 miles) for a two ngiht stay.
DAY 5 - LOVINAEnjoy a day at leisure to explore the surrounding area of Lovina, with its unspoiled black volcanic beaches and lush green mountains. This traditional fishing community has a laidback island lifestyle and you can snorkel, dive and soak in the wonderful hot springs.
DAY 6 - UBUDAnother day of discovery on the captivating island of Bali with the highlight today being your visit to Kintamani. As you travel in you will see the imposing sight of the active volcano Mount Batur perched dramatically on top of the crater rim. From here, witness exhilarating views of the crater, lake and the volcano peaks. On the way back from the volcano is a visit to the Holy Spring Water Temple at Sebatu village. Drive on to Ubud, where you will stay for two nights (approx. 68 miles). Ubud is a creative little town set amid terraced rice paddies and lush mountains that is regarded as the cultural heart of Bali with numerous art galleries, museums, cafés and architecture to explore.
DAY 7 - UBUDAfter breakfast you will travel to see the Balinese artistic blessing dance known as Barong, performed in the countryside village of Batu Bulan. After this is a visit to Bali Bird Park in Singapadu, home to the largest and finest collection of Indonesian birds in the world and you will have the chance to see exceptional birds of paradise including the world’s rarest bird, the Bali Starling. From here you will be taken to Celuk Village, famous for its silver works and then on to Mas Village, which is a woodcarving centre. Complete an inspiring and colourful tour of Ubud Village and then enjoy lunch (not included) in one of Ubud’s many restaurants. The afternoon is spent at leisure, perhaps shopping or visiting some of the many remarkable temples in the area. Stay overnight in Ubud.
DAY 8 - CANDIDASATravel east to the largest temple in Bali, the Besakih, also known as the ‘Mother Temple’. At over 1,000 years old and located on the slopes of Mount Agung, the highest mountain on the island, it is a remarkable and beautiful place of worship. On the way to Besakih you will stop at Goa Gajah, popularly known as the Elephant Cave. This overwhelmingly peaceful and spiritual place is an ancient heritage site of Hindu and Buddhist priests dating back to around the 11th Century but only rediscovered in 1923. After visiting the temple, pass through Salak plantations and Tenganan, an ancient fortress village in the east of Bali that maintains a cultural legacy dating back to the Majapahit Empire and where buffalo roam freely in the lush green surrounds. Stay overnight in the village of Candidasa (approx. 75 miles).
DAY 9 - BALI BEACHThe morning is at leisure in Candidasa, a tranquil fishing village with spectacular palm-fringed white sand beaches. En route to your beach hotel you will stop by Kusamba, a black sand village, famous for salt production. You will also visit the Goa Lawah temple with its infamous bat cave where thousands of large fruit bats, thought to be the guardians of the temple, hang from the rocky ceiling. Your last stop on the tour will be Kertagosa, a former Royal Court of Justice and a unique building with an elaborately decorated ceiling that depicts both good and evil. Spend the next four nights in comfort, peace and privacy at your chosen Bali beach hotel.
