Jim's Jungle Retreat

This ten acre retreat sits just outside the Corbett Tiger Reserve, a magical land of ‘roar and trumpet song’ nestled between the great Himalayas in the north and the ancient Shivalik hills in the south.

The retreat is run by naturalists and conservationists and has a dedicated ecological message blending the luxury of hotel living with a deep concern for the tigers, elephants and magnificent biodiversity of this stunning region.

Accommodation

The 12 thatched cottages have wraparound verandas for stunning views of the native plants and wildlife and provide guests with complete privacy. Built with local materials, they have spacious bedrooms, high ceilings and well-appointed bathrooms and offer fine linen and upholstery. The décor is a blend of the Raj and an English country home, with a dash of jungle camp ruggedness.

Destination introduction

Venture into the heart of India and discover the magnificent wildlife and sweeping landscapes of some of the region's finest wildlife parks. Follow in the footsteps of Rudyard Kipling and explore Kanha National Park which was the setting for his famous novel, 'The Jungle Book'. This stunning park encompasses 754 square miles of bamboo forests, meadows and ravines that provide shelter to a range of wonderful wildlife including the tiger, leopard and sloth bear.

Corbett National Park became India's first national park in 1936 and is named after the hunter turned conservationist Jim Corbett. Set on the banks of the Ramganga River and covering 509 square miles this park is comprised of lush forest, grassland, ravines, plateaus and hills that shelter diverse wildlife including the elephant, tiger, leopard, Himalayan black bear and an incredible 580 species of bird.
Bandhavgarh National Park is a smaller park at 241 square miles but it claims to have the highest density of tigers in India. Set in Central India's Satpura Hills this enchanting reserve is also home to the leopard, deer, dhole (Indian wild dog) and crested serpent eagle.
