This mesmerising introductory tour takes you to the incredible temples of Angkor Wat and the remains of the Khmer Empire, an ancient and beautiful civilisation whose mystery is enhanced by the jungle setting and intricate architecture.

You'll travel overland to the bustling riverside capital of Phnom Penh, enjoying a cyclo tour of this historical French-built city and opportunities to sightsee and barter at markets.

•   Cambodia's tourist infrastructure is not as developed as in other Far East destinations.
•   Due to the number of steps in and around the main attractions, this tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties.

DAY 1 - LONDON TO SIEM REAP
Overnight flight to Bangkok with Thai Airways (overnight stays available), connecting with a Bangkok Airways flight to Siem Reap.

DAY 2 - SIEM REAP
On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy some free time to rest. You may also join an optional tour to Les Artisans d’Angkor - a charitable handicraft workshop - followed by a trip to a local market.

After lunch, visit the spectacular Angkor National Museum for a deeper understanding of the ancient Khmer civilisation, and the modern town of Roluos where you'll see some classic temples dating from the ninth century AD. Return to Siem Reap for dinner and a traditional Apsara show. Spend four nights at
Tara Angkor.

DAY 3 - SIEM REAP
Over the next few days you'll have a chance to explore Siem Reap. Watch a spectacular sunrise over Angkor Wat and visit Ta Prohm, the Bayon, the Elephant and Leper King Terraces and the seldom visited temples of Banteay Srey.

Cruise down the Tonle Sap Lake, south-east Asia's largest. Observe local life, seeing the floating villages, houseboats and simple shacks that people live in and visiting a local village primary school.

DAY 6 - SIEM REAP TO PHNOM PENH
Journey overland to Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh (approx. 8 hours), visiting the temple-rich ancient capital of Chenla en route. Arrive late afternoon in Phnom Penh, check-in and relax on your first evening in the capital. Stay three nights at Sunway, Phnom Penh.

DAY 7 - PHNOM PENH
Start the day in Phnom Penh with a cyclo tour, stopping to wander the Silver Pagoda (home to a life-sized gold Maitreya Buddha covered in diamonds, one of which weighs in at 25 carats), the Royal Palace and Wat Phnom, the only hill in the city and home to a unique temple complex that's become symbolic of Phnom Penh.

After lunch visit the charitable Apsara Arts Association, then continue to the National Museum. Enjoy dinner at the FCC restaurant.

DAY 8 - PHNOM PENH
Drive along the riverside to the Ounalom and Botum Vatey pagodas. Return to the Central Market of Phnom Penh, a vibrant, colourful Art Deco masterpiece where you can try your hand at bartering for souvenirs or traditional hand woven cloths.

The rest of the day is at your leisure, or you can join an optional tour of Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 9 - PHNOM PENH TO LONDON
Today depart Cambodia for your flight with Thai Airways via Bangkok and onward with Thai Airways to the UK, arriving later the same day.

Combine Cambodia with a relaxing stay on one of Thailand’s beautiful beaches. Just a few hours by road from Bangkok, Hua Hin offers soft sands and warm waters, as well as fabulous golf courses and watersports.
DAY 9 - PHNOM PENH TO THAILAND
Transfer (approx. 3 hours) by road from Bangkok for three or more nights at your chosen hotel.
DAY 12 - THAILAND TO LONDON
Return to Bangkok for your Thai Airways flight to the UK, arriving the next day.

THE BEACHES OF SIHANOUKVILLE
Extend your stay in Cambodia on Sihanoukville's white-sand beaches. Unwind after a busy week's sightseeing, enjoying the town's delicious fresh seafood, sipping cool drinks at thatched-roof beach bars, swimming and sun-bathing.
DAY 9 - PHNOM PENH TO SIHANOUKVILLE
Transfer (approx. 3-4 hours) to the beaches of Sihanoukville for three nights or more at Sokha Beach Resort.
DAY 12 - SIHANOUKVILLE TO LONDON
Return to Phnom Penh for your Thai Airways flight via Bangkok to Heathrow.
