FLY-IN SAFARI

This safari includes light aircraft flights between locations to reduce travelling time. All game drives are escorted by English speaking rangers.

MEAL PLAN
• Prices include full breakfast in Dar es Salaam; breakfast and dinner in Zanzibar; breakfast, lunch and dinner on safari.

ACCOMMODATION
• On occasion the itinerary may operate in reverse or use alternative lodges to those shown according to conditions and local availability.

TRAVEL TIPS
• Be sure to pack a mixture of warm and light clothing in soft bags weighing maximum 15kg, plus sunglasses, camera and insect repellent.

NB
• Minimum age 16 years. Strict baggage limit of 15kg in soft bags is enforced. If extending to Zanzibar excess luggage may be stored in Dar Es Salaam and forwarded to your hotel at extra cost – details on request. Minimum age 18 years on walking safaris.

DAY 1 - LONDON to ZANZIBAR
Kenya Airways overnight flight from Heathrow via Nairobi to Dar Es Salaam.

DAY 2 - ZANZIBAR
On arrival transfer to the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel in a Standard room for a day at leisure and overnight.

DAY 3 - ZANZIBAR to SELOUS
Fly by Coastal Aviation (or similar) light aircraft to Selous (pronounced Seloo), Africa’s largest game reserve, which probably contains the greatest concentration of big game animals left in the world. On arrival transfer to Rufiji River Camp in a Standard tent for three nights (Standard option). This tented camp is set on the banks of the Rufiji River which flows through this vast untamed game reserve, and features 20 comfortable en suite tents and a swimming pool. Selous Safari Camp (Superior option) features just thirteen luxurious tents on wooden platforms, pool, restaurant and relaxing bar/lounge area.

DAY 4 - SELOUS
During your stay you can enjoy boat safaris in flat bottomed boats along the river. A ranger guide accompanies you and you can watch the animals come to drink along the river, while you relax in your boat. Game walks and game drives in the camps’ own open 4x4 vehicles with experienced and knowledgable rangers will provide plenty of opportunity to see some of the huge variety of animals that reside in the park. Elephant, lion, bush buck, giraffe, buffalo, wild hunting dogs and a large concentration of hippo can be found here.

DAY 6 - SELOUS to RUAHA
Fly by light aircraft to the remote wilderness of Ruaha National Park for three nights at Ruaha River Lodge in a Standard room (Standard option). The lodge features amazing views up and down the river from an elevated bar, 20 thatch and stone rooms with en suite bathrooms and wooden deck, and a central lounge area. Jongomero Camp (Superior option) is set under acacias in a remote sector of the park guaranteeing unmatched privacy. Just eight large tents are luxuriously appointed, while the natural rock pool is a popular feature on hot days. Look out for huge herds of buffalo, beautiful sable antelope, wild hunting dogs and many elephants. In addition lion, leopard and cheetah are regularly sighted on game drives.

DAY 7 - RUAHA
Enjoy two full days in the wilderness of Ruaha enjoying game viewing in open 4x4 vehicles or on optional escorted walks (extra cost payable locally).

DAY 9 - RUAHA to LONDON
Fly by light aircraft from Ruaha to Dar Es Salaam to connect with your evening Kenya Airways flight via Nairobi to Heathrow, arriving the next morning.

ZANZIBAR
DAY 9
Fly by Coastal Air (or similar) light aircraft from Ruaha to Zanzibar and transfer to the Breezes Beach Club in a Standard room (Standard option), or Baraza in a One bedroom oceanfront villa (Superior option) to enjoy four or more nights on this beautiful island.

DAY 13
This evening fly Kenya Airways from Zanzibar via Nairobi to Heathrow, arriving the next morning.
