For wildlife buffs this is a country which is hard to beat, the thrill of spotting the ‘big five’ in their natural habitat is something which many people only dream of. The country’s excellent track record in conservation means that these wonderful creatures will be around for our children and our children’s children.
Kruger National Park
The World famous Kruger National Park is home to every imaginable species of African animals and birds. The southern part of this huge reserve lies in the Northern Transvaal and guarantees memorable sightings of the great wild beasts including buffalo, cheetah, elephant and giraffe.
Eastern Cape
There are some excellent Game viewing opportunities in the Eastern Cape. Much is said about spotting the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) and here you have a good chance of seeing all of them. The Eastern Cape Game Reserves are malaria free so no tablets are necessary.

Wildlife and Nature
• The Kruger National Park: Probably the most famous area for seeing wildlife and its number one position is hard to contest. If you are lucky you will spot all the ‘big five’ during your stay. Not only is there a huge variety and abundance of animals but also a sharply contrasting landscape from river flats to dense forests and rugged mountain peaks.
• Eastern Cape: This area is fast gaining in popularity with those in search of big game and although not as abundant as in Kruger this region makes an excellent start or end to a journey along the Garden Route.
• Kwazulu Natal: For an alternatively look at Kwazulu Natal and Swaziland for a wildlife encounter rich in culture.
