Treetops, Aberdares National Park

Nestled in the Aberdares Forest, this rustic treehouse is famous as the place where Princess Elizabeth ascended to the British Throne in 1952.

Strategically sited on an ancient elephant migration route and facing a watering hole and salt lick, the lodge is well-placed to view elephants, buffaloes, rhinos and more.

Accommodation

Treetops comprises 36 rooms and three suites, all with en suite bathroom and deceptively simple, tidy, cosy and modular, much like ships’ cabins, to allow for their amazing treetop situation. Uniquely, the trees grow right through the buildings.

Facilities

You’ll thrill to the sight of elephants, buffalos, rhinos and more from the nearby safety of four viewing decks, a rooftop platform and two ground level photographic hides. An optional buzzer in each room informs guests of any action happening at the water hole so you’ll be sure not to miss anything. You’ll also be able to experience game drives in the park and in Solio Rhino Sanctuary, bird watching, lectures about Treetops, a full day tour to the moorlands and sundowner safaris. Dinner is served in the charming restaurant with its old world furniture and there’s also a lounge overlooking the watering hole and two bars.
