Destination introduction

The most famous game reserve in the world, the awe-inspiring Maasai Mara is what safari dreams are made of - rolling grasslands, wide open savannah and rich in wonderful African wildlife.

Here is the place to witness the incredible annual wildebeest migration between June and October as over a million animals thunder across the plains in search of water and grazing - but the Maasai Mara has mass appeal all year round. Spot prides of lions basking in the shade, seek out an elusive solo leopard and have your camera at the ready for other spectacular wildlife including cheetah and hyena. Stay at Kuoni's selection of
luxurious tented camps during an in-depth Maasai Mara safari or a tailor made fly-in safari.

Maasai Mara highlights
•   Magnificent big cat viewing - the BBC's enthralling programme, 'Big Cat Diary' has followed the lives of the Maasai's resident cheetahs, lions and leopards since 1996.
•   The annual wildebeest migration where over a million animals thunder across the plains (usually takes place between June and October).
•   A magical
hot air balloon safari - gently drift over the plains as the sun rises, with game roaming below.
