Guide

Cheetah Serena Safari is escorted by an English speaking driver/guide from departure from Nairobi to return to Nairobi. Extensions are not escorted but assistance is provided by our local representatives.

MEAL PLAN
Prices include breakfast in Nairobi; breakfast, lunch and dinner on safari. Breakfast and dinner included on the Kenya Coast and Zanzibar extensions.

ACCOMMODATION
Cheetah Serena Safari uses 4 star lodges. On occasion it may be necessary to use alternative accommodation due to local availability and road conditions.

TRAVEL TIPS
Pack a mixture of warm and light clothing in soft bags weighing maximum 15kg, plus sunglasses and insect repellent.

DAY 1 - NAIROBI
On arrival transfer to the Nairobi Serena for one night in a Standard Room.

DAY 2 - NAIROBI TO SAMBURU
Drive to the beautiful Samburu National Reserve with lunch en route before enjoying a game drive in the afternoon. Spend the next two nights at Samburu Simba Lodge. The lodge overlooks the Buffalo Springs National Reserve and the Uaso Nyiro River, with fantastic views over the rolling plains (approx. 195 miles).

DAY 3 - SAMBURU
Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu National Reserve. Lesser visited than its more southerly neighbours, this relatively small reserve’s main attraction is its ‘dry country’ animals rarely found in other regions, making for a unique safari experience. Species include the long-necked gerenuk, Grant’s gazelle, reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra.

DAY 4 - SAMBURU TO MT KENYA
Drive to Mt Kenya National Park and the beautifully located Serena Mountain Lodge. Set under the slopes of Mt Kenya amongst dense forest, the lodge enjoys its own water hole frequented by wildlife day and night (approx. 100 miles).

DAY 5 - MT KENYA TO LAKE NAKURU
Drive via Thomson’s Falls to Lake Nakuru for lunch and a game drive. Lake Nakuru is home to an abundance of flamingos and sometimes all that can be seen is a mass of pink! Lake Nakuru National Park also provides habitat for lion, leopard and Rothschild giraffe, as well as white rhino and the endangered black rhino. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the national park and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge (approx. 180 miles).

DAY 6 - LAKE NAKURU TO MAASAI MARA
After breakfast, drive to the incredible Maasai Mara Game Reserve with lunch en route. Overnight at Mara Serena Lodge. The Mara Serena is spectacularly located high on a hill with amazing views over the Mara River in one of the best locations for game viewing (approx. 185 miles).

DAY 7 MAASAI MARA
Today enjoy a memorable breakfast by the hippo pool! A full day in the Mara follows with morning and afternoon game drives. The reserve offers fantastic chances of seeing the Big Five amongst its rolling plains and wide open savannah – and even better opportunities for viewing big cats. Other wildlife to spot includes elephant, giraffe, hyena, impala, wildebeest and buffalo. You may take the optional balloon safari (see Upgrades) over the Mara.

DAY 8 - MAASAI MARA TO NAIROBI
Depart for Nairobi after breakfast arriving in time for a delicious lunch at a Nairobi restaurant (approx. 180 miles). You will return to the Nairobi Serena for the afternoon where you may wish to prebook a day room before your onward journey. Alternatively, extend your holiday to the Kenya Coast or Zanzibar.

After lunch (extra cost) fly straight from the Mara via Ukunda to Mombasa airport and transfer for three or more nights to the excellent four star Serena Beach Hotel & Spa in a Village Room.

Overnight at the Nairobi Serena in a Standard Room.
DAY 9
Fly to Zanzibar for three or more nights at four star Breezes Beach Club in a Standard Room.
