Landmark hotel in the shadows of the Pyramids

Cairo’s landmark hotel has been welcoming guests since 1869, playing host to Kings, Emperors and Heads of State. It is the closest hotel to the Pyramids and boasts incredible views of these iconic monuments. This is the perfect place to begin your Cairo explorations.

In 40 acres of jasmine scented gardens, facilities include an excellent choice of bars and restaurants featuring both Egyptian and International cuisine, a large outdoor swimming pool and children's pool in landscaped gardens with spacious terraces and poolside Italian restaurant, new spa, gym and a selection of boutiques.

520 rooms, each with air-conditioning, bath, shower, telephone and a balcony. Located in the renovated and new Garden Wings of the hotel, the Gardenview and Pyramidview rooms are modern, stylish and elegantly furnished with views of the gardens, pool or Pyramids.

•   The main bazaar area in Cairo is called Khan el Khalili, where you can bargain for items such as copperware, mother of pearl, wood, jewellery, perfumes and spices.
•   For more European shopping there is the Talat Harb Square, where you’ll find boutiques selling shoes and handbags. Great quality Egyptian cloth is also sold here. Prices are fixed, so no bartering.
