But when you’re ready to stir from your lounger, follow the Diamond Head Crater Trail – it only takes around an hour to walk, and you’re rewarded with beautiful views. Hire a car and discover historic Pearl Harbor, or learn about Hawaii’s heritage at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Perhaps you’ll want to add an extra day or two to spend time in beautiful Napa Valley – it’s achievable in a day trip from San Francisco.
