LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort & Villas

A paradise of pure bliss

With homemade bubblegum ice cream and a beach club vibe, expect a whimsical time on these paradise shores.

There’s a playful feeling here, where beach parasols look like lollipops, and novelty swans wait to take you afloat on the powder blue water. Guests glide past on bikes, and there’s a sound of reggae in the distance – probably from the Lagoon Bar.

Why we love LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort & Villas

  • White-washed villas and pavilions have a far-flung beachy vibe without losing a luxe feel

  • A considerable choice of excellent and stylish restaurants, plus Café LUX with coffee from island-roasted beans

  • Family movie nights on the beach under the stars, with popcorn and plenty of ice cream

  • Perfectly positioned for spotting whale sharks year-round

Eight incredible restaurants take you on a global culinary jaunt. Upgrade to an all-inclusive stay, and you can effortlessly rotate between six restaurants, with all access to drinks, artisanal ice cream and coffee, and a picnic basket for excursions.

Mixe
On the beach with a warm ocean breeze. It’s a buffet restaurant, but the chefs are busy behind live cooking stations cooking it fresh for you.

Senses
Semi open-air and open for lunch and dinner, Senses is a poolside restaurant serving salads, grills, and local seafood. It’s also a bar and lounge, so you can pop by for a drink even if you’re not dining.

Allegria
The best Italian dishes are served on a deck by the beach. Open nightly for dinner.

East Market
Open for breakfast and dinner, this market-style restaurant brings flavours of southeast Asia to the Maldives.

Lagoon Bar
An classic beach bar made modern, right on the sand, serving lunch and drinks to reggae beats.

Café Lux
Coffee is taken seriously here – the beans are island-roasted and then blended into excellent brews by skilled baristas, including cold press, pour overs, and nitro coffee.

Veli Pool Bar
A relaxing pool bar where you can grab a bite for lunch.

Beach Rouge
Fresh Mediterranean dishes in an oh-so-cool setting with beach club vibes and a sunset DJ set every night.

Umami
Serving modern Japanese cuisine for dinner.

ICI
The ever-popular ice cream parlour.

East Bar
Serving evening drinks over the water.

The sunset ambience at Beach Rouge makes it our favourite spot for golden hour, complete with cocktails and a DJ.

The Lux* ME Spa is a collection of treatment rooms, some set over the water. There are options for kids alongside a comprehensive menu of therapies. There are plunge pools, a sauna, and a hammam.

There’s an on-island reiki master and meditation sessions. Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Hatha yoga classes are available in the seaview Yoga Grove, plus on-the-water floating yoga. There are also Pilates classes and Pranayama relaxation.

A vast array of fitness options includes a full gym with personal trainers, indoor and outdoor classes spanning high and low-intensity sessions, cardio, functional training, and toning.

A five-star PADI diving centre is on-hand to ensure the ultimate dive experience for pros and novices alike. The island is in an excellent spot for whale shark sightings.

Snorkel the house reef to spot rays, coral fish, and baby sharks, or join a catamaran snorkelling safari or whale shark and turtle snorkelling adventure. Above-the-water activities include water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, kite surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and flyboarding.

The resort has one of the world's largest floating solar systems at sea, powering up to 30% of total energy consumption. Single-use and non-degradable plastic have been replaced with reusable water bottles, bamboo takeaway cups and paper straws. The island’s Keen on Green concept champions local, vegan, raw, and vegetarian menus in all restaurants. The ingredients in the spa are made from natural ingredients and not tested on animals. There’s an on-island Marine Biology Centre for underwater wildlife research, coral planting and adoption programmes.

This is a good island for families as there’s plenty to keep kids and teens busy. PLAY is the kids' club for 3 to 11 year olds with plenty of age-appropriate activities including swimming sessions, junior yoga, gardening projects and talent shows.
