In a dramatic clifftop setting fringed by gardens of native plants and a marine reserve, this contemporary adult-focused hideaway has a sublime spa, wow-factor views from the infinity pool and a chic private sea-bathing area at ground level. Everything from the clean-cut architecture to the all-encompassing recycling policy has been designed with sustainability in mind, so you can chill out on your lounger with an easy mind.

Sentido Galomar is in a shared resort area with the sister hotel Sentido Galosol which accepts children. You will be making use of the restaurants here as well as some of the facilities which are also used by guests with kids. Guests staying at Galosol can use Restaurante Atlantis at lunch and dinner.

The interior design of the 77 modern rooms and suites echoes the colours of the landscape with a palette mid blues and greens, and splashes of red and gold. There are views over the leafy grounds from the lead-in Garden View Room; we suggest upgrading to the similar-sized Side Sea View Room or larger Sea View Room to take full advantage of the hotel’s coastal location. Of the six suites, our favourite is the romantic Galo Suite, where you can enjoy incredible sunsets from the spacious balcony.

There’s a global theme to the buffets at Restaurante Ondamar, with more of a local slant at the à la carte Restaurante Atlantis. During the day, the Pool Bar serves up snacks and drinks, while Capoeira Lounge is a clubby spot for evening cocktails or a taste of local vintages.

Restaurante Ondamar The buffet restaurant, shared with sister property Sentido Galosol, daily themed dinners and live cooking stations. Children are welcomed at the sister hotel so expect to be dining with younger guests.

Enjoy lunch or dinner at this à la carte restaurant. The menu focuses on grills and seafood with a Madeira flavour; there is a buffet here for breakfast which is exclusive to Sentido Galomar guests.
