Day 1

San José

Arrive in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, and head immediately away from the urban core to the soothing surroundings of Xandari Resort & Spa. It’s set in 40 acres of Costa Rican countryside (yet close enough to the city for urban explorations), with sweeping views of the Central Valley to savour over farm-to-fork dining.

Days 2-3

Tortuguero

Drive three hours northeast La Pavona Dock where you’ll set off on an hour-long boat trip to Tortuga Lodge in Tortuguero National Park. This watery world takes you off the beaten track and into a world of wild beaches, mystical canals, and dense jungles. Choose two tours each day from a selection —perhaps a twilight tour as nighttime magic descends on the jungle. Time your visit right to spot nesting turtles on the beaches.

Day 4

San José

A final night back at the Xandari Resort & Spa completes your Costa Rica introduction. Decide whether to hit the town or continue your nature-focused discoveries. The hotel has three miles of trails through a 12-acre forest with several waterfalls en route, and there are plenty of birdwatching opportunities to continue your wildlife discoveries.
