Senda Monteverde

Simple but stunning in a rare cloud forest setting

A mindful and meditative mountain escape where wild orchids bloom, ferns reach the sky and rare wildlife thrives.

This dreamy mountain lodge woos guests with far-reaching highlands views, private standalone bungalows and hyper-local food. You’re minutes from high altitude hiking and howler monkeys in Monteverde Cloud Forest and you’re backed by Aguti Wildlife Reserve – hop over the hanging bridge for access. Everything feels remote, yet Monteverde Town’s coffee shops and craft beer houses are just 15 minutes away.

Expect wow-factor views and a menu to match at the hotel’s restaurant. Senda Monteverde focuses on low food miles and artisanal cuisine. There’s a mini explorer menu for kids and marshmallows by the fire pit.

El Sapo Restaurant
Fresh, healthy and sustainable food is what makes El Sapo so popular. They make their own breads, sauces, pickles and chutneys from scratch and put a local spin on international cuisine. Stand out dishes include responsibly sourced catch-of the day and homemade ravioli, with plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians.

El Sapo Bar & Lounge
The bar is the perfect spot for a sundowner, turning out South American organic wines, Monteverde cheeses and craft beers.

What's included

Breakfast at El Sapo Restaurant

The restful and snug yoga studio, stocked with mats and blocks, is a multi-purpose space where you’re just as likely to be taking a morning yoga class as you are getting involved in one of the in-house activities on offer.

Single-use plastic free Senda Monteverde is not only green in scenery but also green by design. It’s a model of sensitive tourism and attentive to keeping things how Mother Nature intended. To date, the hotel has planted 5,500 native plants and trees, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and give wildlife a safe habitat. Solar panels are used to heat water, rooms are stocked with organic toiletries and cleaning products are biodegradable. Food is homegrown or local, seafood is sustainably sourced and every product is organic.
