Tour Itinerary - 10 nights
Day 1: Calgary to Banff Arrive at Calgary airport and transfer to your hotel in the small mountain village of Banff. Stay: Rundlestone Lodge.
Day 2: Banff to Lake Louise You’ll meet your tour guide early this morning and begin your Rocky Mountain adventure! Depart along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway en route to Lake Louise with its famous emerald waters. In the middle of Banff National Park, Lake Louise is one of the Canadian Rockies’ most loved destinations and the most photographed, with its waters sparkling underneath the towering Victoria Glacier. Your first hike will depart close by the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on the shores of the lake. Walk to the small mountain lake of Lake Agnes and enjoy coffee and cake at the teahouse on its shore before heading back down the trailhead. Alternatively, ambitious hikers have the option to continue along Lake Agnes and up to the Beehive – a low peak overlooking Lake Louise. Stay: Lake Louise Inn. B.
Day 3: Lake Louise You’ll begin your hike today at the nearby glacially-fed Moraine Lake with its distinct green-blue waters, and watch as panoramic views of the Valley of the Ten Peaks (also known as Wenkchemna Peaks) unfold on the moderate hike to the meadowlands of Larch Valley. This afternoon, a short drive over the Kicking Horse Pass and via the Spiral Tunnels will take you to Yoho National Park for your second hike. This natural wonderland is home to the thundering 380m-tall Takakkaw Falls. Later you’ll return to Lake Louise. Stay: Lake Louise Inn. B.
Day 4: Lake Louise to Sunwapta Falls One of the highlights today is travelling along one of the world’s most scenic roads: the famous Columbia Icefields Parkway. Journey over two passes and watersheds and through mountain landscapes before arriving in Jasper National Park. Jasper National Park is home to wolves, moose and caribou, and its natural attractions include Maligne Canyon, pretty Maligne Lake, the powerful Athabasca Falls, and the plunging Sunwapta Falls, which lie just a few minutes away from your resort. ‘Sunwapta’ translates as ‘turbulent water’, and the falls have a drop of around 18 metres. Later today you’ll hike to the Parker Ridge of Mount Athabasca for views of the Saskatchewan Glacier – the largest outflow glacier from the Columbia Icefield. Stay: Sunwapta Falls Resort. B.
Day 5: Sunwapta Falls to Valemount Today you’ll travel from Alberta into British Columbia. But first you’ll head to Maligne Lake for a moderate hike up the Bald Hills to be rewarded with incredible views over the lake and the surrounding glaciated peaks. Continue, passing Medicine Lake, on the way to Maligne Canyon – one of the Rockies’ deepest gorges. Venture deep down inside the canyon via a short, steep walk along the sheer limestone walls and over a couple of bridges. After the hike, you’ll drive along the Yellowhead Highway to the Rockies’ tallest peak, Mount Robson (3954m). Arrive in the small town of Valemount, British Columbia, for the night. Stay: Chalet Continental. B.
Day 6: Valemount to Clearwater Today a thrilling river safari awaits! Travel to the Blue River and journey down it by jet boat to Mud Lake and Mud River, hopefully spotting wildlife including bears, moose, beavers and eagles. Afterwards, continue on to Clearwater at the entrance of popular Wells Gray Park. Here you will explore the temperate rainforest landscape, home to waterfalls and basalt canyons. In summer months, your guide may opt to take you to the Trophy Mountain flower meadows that are in bloom. Stay: Clearwater Lodge. B.
Day 7: Clearwater to Whistler Journey southwest along the Fishing Highway through the Interlakes District – an elevated plateau dotted with hundreds of lakes, streams, rolling grasslands and forests. Witness the dramatic change in the landscape as you travel through semi-arid to green forests and meadows along the Fraser River at the foot of the Coast Mountains. Cross into the mountains and arrive in the mountain village of Whistler this afternoon for time at leisure. Stay: Delta Whistler. B.
Day 8: Whistler Originally developed as a winter ski resort, Whistler has become a popular destination year-round. Take a ride on the Peak 2 Peak gondola, connecting Whistler and the Blackcomb Mountains and offering spectacular views. Hike along the High Note Trail, with its uninterrupted views. Return to the village and enjoy further time at leisure to explore. Stay: Delta Whistler. B.
Day 9: Whistler to Vancouver Travel along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway, following the dramatic coastline, set against the almost vertical rock walls along Howe Sound, towards Vancouver. Near the town of Squamish, Stawamus Chief – the world’s second-biggest granite monolith – dominates the landscape. Stop at Lynn Canyon for a hike over a suspension bridge to a beautiful coastal rainforest. Arrive in Vancouver this afternoon for time at leisure and a two-night stay. Stay: Blue Horizon. B.
Day 10: Vancouver After an early breakfast, you’ll meet your guide for a city tour by bicycle. You’ll begin at Stanley Park and ride along the popular seawall before continuing on to English Bay and crossing False Creek to Granville Island. Return to your starting point by passing through historic Gastown and the modern Canada Place. Other sights that you’ll take in include the Olympic Cauldron, totem poles and steam clock en route. Stay: Blue Horizon. B.
Day 11: Vancouver This morning there’ll be some time in Vancouver for any additional sightseeing or shopping, before you transfer to the airport for your return flight. B.
