Facilities

Should you feel like tearing yourself from the beautiful beach, a selection of activities are available including excursions, diving and snorkelling, selected watersports on the huge lagoon and Duniye Spa. Dining is buffet style, with special a la carte dinners on the beach (extra charge) also available. Beverages and snacks are available from the bar and there is also a programme of evening entertainment, internet café and gift shop.

40 simply furnished yet delightfully homely Beach bungalows, each with lovingly crafted traditional thatch roofs and original coral walls, airconditioning, minibar, television and a terrace from which you can caress your toes in dreamlike white sands and gaze contentedly to the idyllic turquoise lagoon beyond. Some rooms are individual, others are semi-detatched.

Shopping

If you visit Malé, you’ll see plenty of street merchants offering beautiful Maldivian postage stamps. Those ragged dentures suspended outside gift shops are sharks’ jaws. Attractive T-shirts are stencilled before your eyes, generally with brilliantly coloured tropical fish.

The islanders are expert in carving coconut wood and use it to decorate their houses. Mat-weaving, basket-making and coir rope-making are long-standing crafts. Mats are woven from haa grass. There is some highlydeveloped lacquer work and you may see examples of handloom weaving or jewellery handcrafted in gold and mother of pearl.
