Bernese Oberland holidays

The majestic Bernese Oberland region is the most famous of all Switzerland's cantons, literally the roof of Europe. Home to the resplendent triple-peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and an excellent range of activities, quaint towns to explore, traditional wood chalet villages, impressive Alpine fresh hiking trails and the most outstanding scenery one can imagine.

In the summer months snow-capped mountains combine with beautiful sunshine, the cleanest of air and lush Alpine meadows. The Bernese Oberland opens up a world of pure nature and is perfect for those that love walking and hiking - both gentle and challenging. The most popular of excursions is the journey to the Jungfraujoch glacier, the highest point in Europe. Follow that up with coffee and cakes in the pretty resort of Interlaken for a perfect day.

Bernese Oberland Highlights
•   Travel with Kuoni to Interlaken, a great cosmopolitan place from which to explore the region.
•   Take the breathtaking cog railway to the Jungrau Plateau and enjoy ice caverns, awe-inspiring views as far as France and Germany and the highest railway in Europe.
•   Visit the Lauterbrunnen Valley, also known as the Waterfall Valley, taking in charming Wengen too.
•   In
Grindelwald, also known as the 'Glacier Village' enjoy the natural wonders of the imposing Glacier Gorge and mystical Blue Ice Grotto
•   See the Trummelbach Falls that drains the mighty glacier defiles of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. These are the only European glacier waterfalls inside a mountain that are open to the public.
•   Take a ride on the Brienz Rothorn railway, the oldest nostalgic steam cogwheel railway that will take you through a magical landscape.
•   Visit beautiful Lake Thun, with its spectacular combination of lake and mountains, mild climate and church and castle. Believed to be one of the prettiest cities in Switzerland.
