KUONI INSIDER

At an altitude of 1600 metres in the North-Western Highlands, the former French hill station of Sapa is home to more than 30 hill tribes and Vietnam’s highest mountain, Mount Fansipan (3143 metres). Spectacular mountain scenery and rice paddies make it ideal for trekking and exploring authentic hill tribe villages."

Hoi An Snapshot

As the sun dips below the South China Sea, streaking the sky with ribbons of pink, Hoi An’s Old Town is magically restored to its early 19th century glory. Cars and electric lights are banished and a rainbow of silk lanterns illuminates the velvet sky. Paper boats glide by leaving a trail of light that dances on the water and music drifts across the night air as the Full Moon Festival celebrations begin.

Vietnam holidays

A historical and once turbulent land

Relatively untouched by tourism, Vietnam is a stunning, exciting country just waiting to be explored. Relax on a pristine white-sand beach or take a tour to discover a unique culture and extraordinary sights.

Between the bustling centres of Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south, Vietnam is a slender country of jungles, rice fields, beaches and bays, mesmerisingly beautiful and completely enthralling.

Peruse our selection of
Vietnam offers.

Vietnam holiday highlights
•   Formerly known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is a young, fun city dotted with boulevards, churches and villas from its French colonial days. Enjoy superb nightlife, restaurants and shopping.
•   Explore
Hanoi, Vietnam's ancient, conservative and traditional capital. Feel the Chinese influence in the old artisan quarters, temples, puppet theatres and lakeside pagodas. There's also a French feel in areas, such as the Colonial Offices and the French quarter with its shuttered windows.
•   Visit legendary imperial capital
Hue, once an awe-inspiring complex of gilded pavilions, lily ponds and terraced gardens that was partly destroyed during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
•   Bask in total tranquillity on the idyllic beaches of
Phan Thiet and Nha Trang, and take in the natural beauty of Halong Bay.

Vietnam - The Essentials
•   Dress respectably when visiting temples – long trousers for men; covered shoulders for women.
•   Couples should avoid public displays of affection.
•   Refrain from using camcorders in temples and local villages.
•   Avoid losing your temper whilst haggling at markets.
•   Never point your feet towards religious images.

Random Fact
Often remarked upon by enraptured tourists, the Vietnamese fashion of Ao Dai is a national institution. Stylishly worn by female office workers and students and on any occasion of merit, the costume consists of a sensuously fitted silk tunic, often of exotic colour and embroidered intricacy, flowing over loose fitting pantaloons and creating a look of effortless grace.
