Hue

A beautiful city with many historical monuments

Hue is often referred to as Vietnam's most beautiful city and its principal sights are the romantic, meditative Perfume River, the remains of the Citadel and the grand Tombs of the Emperors.

The tranquil River bisects the city into the northen and southern parts with most of the hotels, restaurants and cafes to the south. Charming Hue is the ideal destination to experience Vietnam's imperial past with beautiful pagodas, tombs and temples dotted along the River.

Hue Highlights
•   The charred remains of the Imperial City (Citadel) where Royalty once lived, used to be cut off from the ordinary people by moats, mighty walls and cannons. A great insight into history.
•   The historic Thien Mu Pagoda overlooking the Perfume River is a beautiful, iconic temple and at seven storeys high, the tallest in Vietnam.
•   The final resting-place of the Nguyen Dynasty Emperor Tu Duc, his Tomb is a tranquil piece of art that he created before his death.
•   Experience the majesty and symmetry of the Tomb of Minh Mang, located on the west bank of the Perfume River.
•   A serene boat trip on the Perfume River is a great way to take in some of the city's main attractions.  passing houseboats, sampans and dragonboats, you will also get an authentic feel of life in Hue.
•   A day trip to the historic Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) will lead you to the grounds of some of the American War's bloodiest battles, to Camp Carroll - one of the largest bases of the US Marine Corps, the Truong Son National Cemetery and the Vinh Moc Tunnels, where a whole village decided to try and wait out the war underground.
