Highlights

Grand Palace
This spectacular palace was begun by King Rama I in 1782 and has been added to by almost every king since.

The Temple of the Emerald Buddha
Adjoining the Grand Palace, this landmark draws pilgrims from all over Thailand. The Emerald Buddha sits atop a 30ft-high gilded altar.

Jim Thompson’s House
These six teak Thai-style houses were joined together by the legendary American adventurer, who later disappeared while visiting Malaysia's Cameron Highlands.

Damnoen Saduak
This is Thailand’s most vibrant floating market, where farmers congregate on canals each morning in produce-laden boats.

Chinatown
This vibrant, colourful area is riddled with stalls and gold shops and home to the Temple of the Golden Buddha.

Wat Arun
Translated as Temple of Dawn, this stunning landmark was built in the 19th century by King Rama II.

Wat Pho
The Temple of the Reclining Buddha is a huge complex. Apart from the huge statue that earns it its name, here you’ll see murals, inscriptions, sculptures and a landscaped garden.

Passports and Visas

•   You need a full EU 10-year passport. We recommend that the expiry date is at least six months after your arrival back in the UK.
•   You only need a visa if you’re staying longer than 30 days (29 nights), and you can get one from the Thai Embassy.
