This destination

Few names evoke such a romantic image as the 'Spice island of Zanzibar', which lies in the Indian Ocean just 60 miles off the East coast of Africa.

Stone Town, the capital, is a fascinating maze of narrow streets. On the East coast deserted beaches beck on visitors to the reef of protected warm waters. Tourism is just beginning; service can be slow and many of the roads, particularly on the south eastern side of the island are rough.

There is no nightlife outside the hotels, but if you enjoy visiting undeveloped destinations make sure this year you discover Zanzibar.
