Safari Experience

An ideal first time safari from Mombasa through Tsavo and Taita Hills perfect to whet your safari appetite and to combine with a beach stay for a fabulous African twin centre.

MEAL PLAN → Breakfast and dinner at Sarova Whitesands. Breakfast, lunch, dinner on safari.

ACCOMMODATION → Three to four star standard lodges. On occasion alternatives to those listed may be used according to local availability/conditions.

GROUP SIZE → Minimum 4, Maximum 6 passengers.

TRAVEL TIPS → Pack binoculars, a camera, a sun hat and glasses, insect repellent, plus a warm jacket/fleece.

ESCORTED MINIBUS SAFARI

English speaking driver/guide from Day 3 until Day 6 in vehicles with maximum 6 passengers, all with a window seat and standing space when game viewing. Upgrade to a private minibus for 2 for a supplement of £165 per person.

DAY 1 → Kenya Airways overnight flight from Heathrow to Mombasa via Nairobi.

DAY 2 → On arrival transfer to the Sarova Whitesands Resort & Spa for the afternoon and night in a Standard room.

DAY 3 → Board your safari vehicle and drive to Tsavo East, game viewing en route to Voi Wildlife Lodge for lunch. You are almost certain to meet herds of elephants, zebras and other plains game. An afternoon game drive follows in search of the big cats and more, then dinner and overnight at Voi Wildlife Lodge.

DAY 4 → After breakfast depart for the Taita Hills Sanctuary for a short game drive before lunch. An afternoon game drive here may encounter the resident cheetahs or lions if you are in luck, then dinner and overnight is at Sarova Salt Lick Lodge, set high on stilts overlooking a floodlit waterhole where game comes to drink during the night.

DAY 5 → Leave for Tsavo West National Park and a game drive en route to the Serena Kilaguni Lodge for lunch. During this or the afternoon game drive you will visit Mzima Springs, famous for its hippos. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Lodge.

DAY 6 → Return after breakfast to Mombasa for your Kenya Airways overnight flight to Heathrow via Nairobi. Alternatively extend your stay at the coast for a well deserved rest.

KENYA COAST

A beach break after a safari is the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation.

DAY 6 → After arriving back from safari, return to the Sarova Whitesands or any other featured beach hotel for three nights in a Standard room. Perhaps reward yourself with some succulent seafood at the Lido Grill or a spa treatment (extra cost). Your stay can always be extended here by any number of nights with complete flexibility.

DAY 9 → Kenya Airways overnight flight from Mombasa via Nairobi to Heathrow.

Relax on a beautiful white sand beach and chill out in the warm Indian Ocean before embarking on a short safari. You can combine a beach holiday in Mombasa with a safari to either Tsavo, reached by minibus, or the famous Maasai Mara which is just a short flight away.
